WE ARE MAKE - translating emotions into visual language
Making for your wellbeing
👉Updates
Why do we care? These past two weeks we delve into our purpose, into why we care and why we are creating a social enterprise around emotional intelligence.
Our purpose: We believe everyone deserves better mental health through strengthening their emotional resilience. Make is for people who want to find a medium, in addition to words, to express their feelings.
We are building a social enterprise because emotions and reason are intertwined, and both are critical to problem solving (Damasio, 1997). Social and emotional abilities were four times more important than IQ in determining professional success and prestige (Feist & Barron, 1996 cited in Cherniss, 2000).

💡Learnings
Relief by making.
✅Also we have been working on testing and science-proving our methodology (and luckily so far, we are on the right track)
Our learnings up to this week:
1.- Our target slightly moved towards 18-25 year-olds. Initially, we were focusing on 13 to 18 year-olds because it is when some mental issues can develop, like anxiety and depression; however, 18 to 25 year-olds are more receptive to acknowledge when they aren’t able to express their emotions on a daily or weekly basis. Eventually, we can expand our target market.
2.- The methodology, or the journey (as we called it on our product) consists of three stages to help our users to label, recognise and express their emotions.
Physical sensations, what are they feeling and in which part of the body.
Context, where this emotion took place or what was happening when they couldn’t express themselves.
Labeling emotions, from a vast range of emotions, which ones they think are closer to their emotional state.
Afterwards, they got a fun and engaging exercise which combines art + music therapy.
We are very confident on the process that we have had so far. We are testing the engagement and the effectiveness of our tool in parallel. These coming weeks will be dedicated to understand the engagement behind our methodology and product to then go back to test the effectiveness of the process.

⬜◻️◽▫️Emotional granularity? An exploration of “emotional granularity,” as it provides language for some very specific emotions you likely never knew you had.
👩🔬💪 #GIRLPOWER Dr. Katie Bouman, wrote the algorithm to process 5 petabytes (5,000 terabytes) to recreate the photo of the first black hole ever seen. "Watching in disbelief as the first image I ever made of a black hole was in the process of being reconstructed" 👇Image below
As part of our movement, we encourage positive imagery; therefore, will be posting beautiful images for your eye candy. (know more about the photo)
