👋 #10

Where we keep our community of MAKErs informed.

🎟️ MAKE is part of the London Tech Week! We are looking forward to attending #InnoFest19 on the 12th June. It will be fantastic to explore how to best maximise collaboration between corporates and innovative startups & scaleups of the Business Growth Programme & Mayor’s International Business Programme. Can’t wait!

📦 Sneak peek of the MAKER BOX! A personal art therapist in a box that will recommend craft activities. Research has found that craft activities can alleviate the symptoms of anxiety, depression, loneliness and even dementia.

⚫ MAKE is using the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC) which provides a theoretical model for art-based assessments. The three levels of the ETC (Kinesthetic/ Sensory, Perceptual/Affective, and Cognitive/Symbolic) appear to reflect different functions and structures in the brain that process visual and affective information.

💟 Art therapy accesses sensory and affective processes on basic levels that are not available for verbal processing.

🔥The main causes of sickness absence from work are anxiety, depression and stress, and mental health problems in the under 65s account for almost half of NHS diagnosis. (full report)
